Thousands of strips of tissue paper were rolled by hand to be pasted one by one to create this piece of art. This required 7 rollers, including I, Vicki Decem. The other rollers were my parents, grandparents, and siblings. Because of the depiction of a tiger lily, the title of this piece is a play on words of "Lily of the Valley," another flower. This piece was completed over a 3-month summer. Lilies are my favorite flower, and this piece falls into my artistic use of saturated colors. To build this flower from rounded balls was a three-dimensional attempt at the technique of pointillism, developed in 1886 as part of the neo-impressionist movement. This piece is meant to represent intricacy and craftsmanship as well as values of family and support for creative dreams.
